How To Play The Game

Two quick things:

I reviewed Aaron Burch's chapbook, How To Take Yourself Apart, How To Make Yourself Anew, over at The Broad Set Writing Collective.

I have started a game that I've been calling:

'Glen Binger Mp3 Giveaway For Funnsies'

The rules are simple:

1. email me with any mp3 from YOUR collection.
2. and I will email you a random mp3 from MY collection.

It's all in good fun and just thought it would be cool to share some music with all of you. So get crackin' and send me an email. I will make an acception: if you have no mp3s, I will send you one anyway. FOR FUNNSIES!

GO!

These Words Are Machines

Let me fill you in on the latest local literary news.

Alliteration aside, I have just released the latest issue of 50 to 1 called 'These Words Are Machines.' It is fresh and it will energize you. After you check out, be sure to spread the word of the awesome flash fiction goodness.

Kiley Rummler and I had the chance to interview the great Pat Roddy, who is a legend in Belmar, NJ, about his band and his music. He is a local musician, very funny, and an all around good dude. Check it out HERE.

The Broad Set Writing Collective is getting a makeover! Expect a new site (a .com) in the near future. Everyone is working hard, I can't wait to release it to the public.

Read this. It's really good (and short). Thanks, Milo!

I feel like I haven't said much these past few posts. I apologize.

I have an idea: if you send me an email I will send you a randomly selected mp3 from my personal archives. It'll be a fun little game we can play and we'll call it the 'Glen Binger mp3 Giveaway For Funnsies.' Just you and me. Ready? GO!

Hoboken recap

The reading last Friday went well.

It was a quick one and only people close with The Broad Set showed up. But it was fun.

After looking for parking and finally parking in a garage (for $30?!!?) Kiley Rummler, our friend Ali, and myself showed up about an hour late. Which was fine, because everyone was late. There was an accident coming off of the turnpike.

I got a chance to meet with Eric Nelson, author of The Silk City Series. He is a rad dude and he came out with The Broad Set for drinks afterwords.

I read a piece in Avalanche Tinder 2 called Orange Tears. People seemed to enjoy it and I'm glad.

Thanks to everyone who came out! If you were unable to attend, I hope to see you at our next reading!

Literary News (surprise!)

Good or bad news first?

The (not-so) bad news: rejected from two magazines in a half hour. It's okay. I'll try you guys again!

Good news: An untitled piece of mine is up at Nanoism today! This 'twitter-zine' is one of the best journals on the Internet today. Every piece published is awesome. I have yet to read a piece and not get shivers up my spine. Keep up the good work, Ben! Thanks for including me in such a great magazine!

More good news: The review for Eric Nelson's The Silk City Series is LIVE over at The Broad Set. Go read it and order your copy today!

(sort of oldish) other news: A new issue of 50 to 1 is out. Hearts Like Batteries. Read it and then submit your 50 word story or 1st line.

The Broad Set's Avalanche Tinder is now on Goodreads. Please review it (or if you don't have your copy, email me and I can mail you one for FREE).

I am reading in Hoboken on Friday with some other rad dudes and dudettes.

Hearts Like Batteries

Batteries power electronics, hearts power bodies. Or is it the other way around?

Some news for all you literature folk:

There is a new issue of 50 to 1 published today! Go check it out and spread the word. They are calling for submissions (hint hint) so maybe you should send them some of your lovely work.

The Broad Set Writing Collective published the print magazine Avalanche Tinder. It is now available on GOODREADS. Check that out. Support the indie scene! Also, check out their next reading.

And just so we're all aware, let this go on record that I said it first (That's right, Eric. I said it first haha):

I'm the Lil' Wayne of literature.

That just happened.

Blizzard

The Weather Channel told me the Jersey Shore was supposed to get 12+ inches of snow.

... it's raining. Didn't I say I was going to stop listening to meteorologists?

In other news:

Stay tuned to The Broad Set for my reviews on Eric Nelson's The Silk City Series - due out on Knickerbocker Circus this month - and Aaron Burch's How To Take Yourself Apart How To Make Yourself Anew - PANK's latest chapbook.

Are you excited?

Quickie

This morning has been very productive in a literary sense.

I wrote a flash fiction piece about spiders and posted it at The Broad Set. Leave some feedback if you read it? Thanks!

I am in the process of working on a split zine with four (4) people. So pumped about that. I haven't made a zine in a while and I've been in the mood. Details to come.

When should I release the new issue of 50 to 1? Any suggestions? Have you submitted yet?

Old(ish) News

What's that sour taste? Oh, it's just Glen giving you news you've probably already heard.

decomP has released February's issue on their new site. It's pretty and the issue is SICKKKK. Check it out.

Hobart has also released it's February issue. Never disappointed with what they put out.

PANK just released #4. It's dubious. (I wanted to use the word dubious.)

50 to 1 has posted the newest issue 'Thinking Elsewhere.'

Don't forget the new issue of kill author!

I found this while surfing the web today: Joe Meno's The Architecture of the Moon. featherproof's free mini books.

Tao Lin is also up to his usual antics.

In broad news (see what I did there?) The Broad Set Writing Collective has a reading tonight. (Unless this blizzard punches New Jersey in the nuts.) We'd love for you to join us if you want to battle the storm. If not, its completely understandable. Its a small venue with delicious food!

Details:

Date: Friday February 5th
Time: 7:30P.M.
Location: Kaffe Kaprys polish restaurant, 41 E. E. Washington Avenue

Shane Jones interview and a Recap of Jan 29th.

If you are wondering how the reading went on Friday, then you weren't there and I am sad because we didn't get a chance to high five.

But the reading was awesome. It was the first time I read using a podium/microphone. And yes, I was nervous. We had many listeners (and, via word of mouth, even some publishers/agents) most of which, I did not know. So I guess that means the reading went well. Lauren Cerand came out, which was very cool because I haven't seen her in a long time. Afterwords we went to an expensive snoody restaurant (don't ask me why) and everyone gave me and my flannel (The Broad Set were the only people who weren't wearing black) dirty looks. Then after that we went to Rudy's (which was a lot more down to earth). A great time, indeed.

Anyway, we have upcoming readings:

Date: Friday February 5th (THIS FRIDAY)
Time: 7:30P.M.
Location: Kaffe Kaprys polish restaurant, 41 E. E. Washington Avenue (also known as Rt 57)
Washington, NJ 07882

&AND&

Date: Friday, February 19th
Time: 7:00PM
Location: Symposia Community Books, 510 Washington Street,
Hoboken, NJ

If you can make it, GREAT! If not, I'll give you a high-five next time.

Speaking of The Broad Set Writing Collective... I recently had the chance to interview Shane Jones! How lucky am I?! Check it out. Thank you, Shane!

I plan on releasing the new issue of 50 to 1 this week. Thanks for your patience.

Apologies for this long, listy post. But I guess it was all well with time.
