No Snowboarding but More Writing

So I couldn't butter any gnar at Blue Mt. today because of rain. Sucks. A lot. Whatever, I'll go tomorrow or something. Dammit.

This morning, after my normal cup of coffee, I worked on my novella. But here's why this is special: I started over. I didn't like where it was heading so I deleted what I had. I guess that's okay. Meh.

Oh, I forgot to post this. About two weeks ago a story of mine, "How to Cheat and Not Feel Bad About It," was accepted into the February 2009 Issue of decomP. So I'm pretty happy about that. I think it is going to go along with the storyline of my novella. I like saying that word. Novella. It sounds fun and pretty. Like the gayer younger brother to the novel. Interesting.

Okay enough bullshit. Time to finish writing and organize myself.

Shred Sesh

Finally... some snowboarding tomorrow.

Shred sesh at Blue Mountain. If any of you are in the area feel free to try and find me. I'll give out stuff for free maybe.

Or not.

I started reading this guy's novella. It's pretty good so far. It's only a rough draft. But it should be pretty good.

Okay, time to waste brain cells with ps3. See you on the mountain tomorrow. Rain or shine.

Remember to keep submitting to 50 to 1 and Lo-Fidelity. Tell all your friends!

The Leaving

Home for break today.
That means a buttload of snowboarding.
And the inability to operate machinery.
Maybe I'll work on the novella.

OMG I'M SO FAT!

Doom on you

So the beat I'm still working on from yesterday was inspired by MF Doom. I can't get enough of that guy. Vomitspit is probably one of the best songs I've ever heard.

Anyway, I actually thought about doing a reading the other day. But first I think I want to get a few more publications and probably get the novella done because then I could try to sell it or something. [If you don't know what I'm talking about check back to this.] I don't know, I think it would be fun. Plus I could showcase some of the writing I've been working on lately. I have this concept for a book and I think it could actually work if I was ever motivated enough. It would definitely be picked up by at least an indie publisher. I know that because I've asked people. Man that sounded arrogant. Oh well. Anyway, it's a book of stories - not a novel. And I'm two stories in. So I could make it happen.

Actually, I'm gonna go work on the one story right now. Au revoir.

December 10, 2008

Today I will Blog a post about nothing.

Look for the announcement.

I met Big Black. He was really chill and totally down to earth. I asked him if he hated 'doin work' all the time. He said "Its not all work. I mean I'm gettin paid 15 g's to sit here and take pictures with you guys." Then we talked about how much it must suck to be constantly bantered with "do work!" everytime someone see's him in public. I dunno. It was cool. Anyway, the reason I met him is because he came to my school to host some big event. Yeah.

So the project is started, I'm roughly at around 1000 words. It's gonna be good. I hope I can make money from it. That would be cool. Maybe I'll go on a reading tour of local NJ bookshops. Rad.

Okay, I need some coffee. I woke up maybe five hours ago and did not have any. Mistakkeeee.

Also, submit something to 50 to 1. It'd be cool!
Plus, we have yet to get any submissions haha.

Edittttt:
I wasted the entire day making a beat I plan to lay some rhymes on. Expect it on myspace.

Some Writing... but check back to the previous post for the announcement!

Knee vs. Knee

The puck slid across the ice behind their net into the corner and I went after it like any other normal offensive zone fore-check, unaware that those next few moments could potentially be the last time I ever stepped foot onto the ice in my entire high school hockey career. It was my senior year at Wall High School and we weren’t even at midseason yet; I was simply excited to be playing Toms River that night. They were one of the better teams in our league at the time and didn’t exactly have much defensive organization. Being an offense team, I couldn’t wait to play them; we were literally going to skate circles around them.

“I got it, I got it,” I yelled, skating to the corner. “Kyle stay up high.”

He shook his head and took place in front of the net. I got the puck, skated back around behind their net and looked up for Kyle’s eager open stance. However, there was a blue Toms River jersey trucking right at me. Okay, I thought, I’ll just dangle around him and pass to Kyle for the goal, no big deal. Wrong.

As I tried to skate to the left around him I banked the puck off the boards on the right. The Toms River kid was coming at me full speed trying to mutilate my body whether or not I had the puck on my stick. But because he was taller and slower than me, I faked him out. By the time he had realized that I had just dangled and beaten him by bouncing the puck off the boards it was near impossible for him to put a full body check on me. Therefore, the only other option he had was to stick his knee out and try to put some interference between me and the puck, which is a blatant penalty in any hockey league.

I was about halfway around him when his right knee directly collided with mine, immediately forcing the ACL tendon to stretch the wrong way and tear as wet paper would. We both fell to the ice but I was the only one with any sort of injury.

“You asshole,” I indirectly screamed at the kid as I rolled over onto my back.

He got up, grabbed the puck and skated away as if it was nothing. Meanwhile, I laid there like a fourth grader having a seizure, ripping off my helmet and gloves trying to keep my right leg as still as possible in the process. The whistle soon blew and my coach hustled over to help me.

One of the refs skated up, “Is everything alright?”

“Are you kidding,” I got louder, “the kid kneed me!”

I was on my back trying to bite my tongue to take my mind off the pain so I wouldn’t spew curse words coated in saliva and spit.

“Nah, it was a clean hit.”

“Are you serious,” my voice grew vile as I rolled back and forth in the bloodless stabbing that was my knee. “The dirty mother fu--”

“Glen! Can you move your toes,” my coach quickly cut in.

“Yeah, I don’t think anything’s broken I just think something’s torn.”

He shook his head and lowered it almost as if he knew I was going to be out the rest of the season. “Yeah.”

I knew it, too.

Kyle skated over, picked me up and threw my arm around his shoulder. He skated me off the ice, making sure I didn’t put any pressure on the knee. I hobbled to the locker room and slowly removed the top half of gear off my sweaty, miserable body. I sat there aimlessly staring at the floor. My senior year season was done. Just like that. In maybe a five minute span I went from being captain, one of the leading scorers on the team, to the guy on crutches who has to stand with the coaches behind the bench. I was empty. I felt the pain and stiffness and fire filter through my knee. I felt hatred and depression devour my life as an athlete. But the absolute worst of it all: I felt my future in ice hockey melt in less than nothing but a few flattened desolate minutes.

The Big Project

So I hope you are all ready for this announcement...

Next semester, it is finalized that I will be writing a novella for course credit under the supervision of Mickey Hess.

Did I disappoint you? I hope not. I will be sad if I did. But hopefully this will gain some attention and widen my fan base. If I have one at all.

My plans are as follows:

- to write a 60-75 page novella
- finish it by May 2009
- get an A on the project
- send it out to publishers in hopes of their pleasure after reading so they will want to print it
- get you to read it and love it
- maybe talk about what its about in the future

As of right now I can't discuss what it will be about. But I'm sure I'll end up telling you. I hope you will all want to read it when it is done. And then I hope after you read it you'll say to yourself, "Hey this wasn't half bad... I think I'll pass it on to my friends in hopes that they will enjoy it."

What do you think? Send any feedback my way.

It's coming...

Today was the last day of the semester. I suppose in the next few days is the right time to announce the project. So here it is: on Sunday December 7th I will announce the project for real on this blog. It will be epic. It will be glorious. It will be amazing. So make sure you [and all of your friends] tune into the blog this Sunday for the big secret project announcement.

There I said it.

Now I need a cup of coffee.

3oh3 and 4th Hint for Big Announcement

Hope all of you had a nice Thanksgiving. Mine was pleasant. I ate two different dinners at two different houses. It was glorious. I gained massive pounds.

So Mr. Kaspereen got published on 6S. I am happy for him. Check it out.

Also, listen to 3Oh!3. They could be described as "godly, insanity in your headphones." I've had their album Want for some time now and I can't stop listening to it.

And I suppose you are all wondering when Glen will announce the 4th hint... I guess now is a good time. [Here is a link to the last one.]

*4th HINT* Long, extensive projects usually have excessive awaited outcomes but they always have lots of planning. *4th HINT*

Again, continue to spread the word. Be sure to tell me you're telling people because you will be compensated.
