Sad Clouds

Look at something I did today while at work:

I may make it my top banner, we'll see.

Get Ready You Crazy Fool

Here is a excerpt from The Definition:

--

I pushed softly off of Chelsea and pulled her to the sidewalk. The car drove by as its operator smiled at us. Once it passed, I grabbed her hand and started walking back to my house, trying to avoid conversation. But before we even made it around the corner she stopped walking and dragged me to a stop.

“Kevin?”

I knew what was coming. “Yeah?”

“I think I love you,” she spoke into my eyes, waiting for a response.

I stood still, staring at her, and spat out the only thing I could quickly think of.

“What ever happened to Brian?”

Ready for another Broad Set Writing Collective reading? You're in luck! September 18th, 7pm @ BrickBat Books in Philadelphia, PA. 709 South Fourth Street. Come by, listen to written words read aloud. We are going to have free beer, a fresh magazine and probably go out to drink afterwords.

I made a mixtape a few minutes ago. If I could figure out how to put it online, I would share. Making mixtapes is a talent of mine. I'm proud of it. Haha

I recorded a jam session with my friend. It's bad. Listen to our whacky antics.

But I also started a serious audio project. So we'll see where that takes me.

Tropical Storm Danny is currently covering the entire state of New Jersey. Good writing weather.

And lastly, check out PANK magazine's new issue. It's a doosie. Don't forget to check out the SKIVE issue too, our friend Pete is in it.

O I ALMOST FORGOT -- CHECK OUT 50 to 1. [Finally] An update featuring work by Valerie O’Shea, Donora Hilliard, Alexander B. Joy, Adam Callaway, Trent Walters, Louise Norlie, and Clive Martyn.

Dessert (A Recipe)

Dessert

It’s like opening a box of chocolate
But instead of chocolate
You find little tiny balls of depression
Wrapped in plastic
So it lasts longer.
Just in case you wanted
To save the depression for later;
An after-dinner treat.
The kind that sticks in your teeth
Until you go to bed
Picking at it with your tongue
Falling asleep
Becoming more depressed.
Then you wake up with a
Depression hangover.
You still feel shitty
And you still want to punch walls
But you’re able to function
And you walk around like a drone
Nodding your head
Either up and down or side to side.
Then you get some coffee
And you look at it
Still depressed, wishing it had poison in it,
But drink it quietly and keeping your secret.
Because that was the worst dessert ever.

Worst Editor Ever

I have been very bad at being the head editor of 50 to 1.

To all the readers, submitters, authors, lovers, haters, etc. I apologize. It's hard running a magazine when you work all the time. But I will make it up to you, I promise.

Nothing else to say at the moment. But...

I have free copies and stickers from Lo-Fidelity! Email me with your address and I'll send you one.

Random [stupid] Writing Exercise

Someday I want to use somebody.

I want to use someone for nothing but all they are worth.

It won't be special and it won't be unique.

I'll use them the same way I use a pen. Or a bottle of water. I'll use them for all they are there for and then throw them away.

They will cry.

I will smile as I turn elsewhere without a second thought.

Or maybe I'll recycle them.

Let them build confidence again, just to tear it away.

Either way they will feel exactly the way I do right now.

Alone.

Tired.

Worn out.

Used.

And it will all fall apart one day. Someday.

These feelings won't go away

The reading went extraordinarily well. Details are over at The Broad Set. Robin Barletta has posted a new story, go check it out and leave comments. It's something different, and I mean that in a total positive way. (sorry if that came out wrong, Robin haha)

My apologizes for not being around as much. I've been busy, crazy busy. I've seen the following bands in concert in the past two weeks: AC/DC, Snoop Dogg, Slightly Stoopid, Damian Marley, Ziggy Marley, G Love and the Special Sauce, and Jason Mraz. Next week I'm going to see Oasis and the following week I'm going to see the Allman Brothers with the Doobie Brothers. This summer has been the summer of MUSIC! I love it.

Read this.

Anyway, those concerts combined with work has left me little time for significant levels of blogging. It's okay though. I'm here. Right now I'm going to leave you with a poem I wrote in two minutes. I'll be back soon with more info and details about upcoming readings, free zines etc.

Stupid Poem
I feel alive right now.
The amount of fun
floating through my veins
is equivalent to that of
a theme park
on steriods.
I am lucky to have this.
