I left a marker lying on a piece of canvas
With the cap missing.
So the ink bled
And soaked through
The stretched out skin.
Perhaps the cap is underneath
My bed, lodged in the corner
Where no one can reach it.
Where ever it is, its
Missing and I can’t help but wonder
If anyone else misses it
Besides me.

A Trip to the Shore

A Trip to the Shore

The damp sand was packed so snugly
In his small toy beach pail,
So that when he swung it around,
The handle clipped by
A centimeter of weak plastic,
Snapped and bee-line bulleted
Straight into my left shoulder
Shattering the joint -
A brick through a window pane.

I Knew You'd Be Back

I Knew You'd Be Back

I’ve got your scent in my palms,
Your bra under my bed,
Yet you’re walking out the door.

My chest feels a breeze,
The sheets twisted like branches,
Yet you’re walking out the door.

I lay crooked on the carpet,
The muscles no longer stiff,
Yet you’re walking out the door.

My ears hear my breath shallow,
Eyes focused to my desk,
And your keys are next to my laptop.
